Thomas Scheibitz
Apollo
24. November 2007 – 27. January 2008

For the exhibition Apollo, Thomas Scheibitz has designed a sculpture that refers, in both its content and construction, to the exhibition space. In Greek mythology, Apollo serves as the god of light, at once a symbol of strength and prudence. Scheibitz presents his bright-coloured artwork on a pillar in the center of the light-flooded room.

The nexus of painting and sculpture is characteristic for Scheibitz’s work. Looking at his sculptures and focusing on their surface texture, one draws a connection between the artworks and the disclosure of pictorial principles.
