Friedrich Kunath
Lonely Are The Free
9. June – 31. July 2011

Friedrich Kunath’s exhibition Lonely are the Free at the Schinkel Pavillon makes reference to the historical implications of the site. Through the artist’s staging of the bar in the entry, the artworks find themselves in the context of a private party room, which can be understood as a reference to the official reception that took place in the Schinkel Pavillon during the time of the German Democratic Republic. The exhibited works make the longing for freedom within a life restricted by political and mental density a subject of discussion.
